- Turf Course waterlogged in places with further rain forecast
- Original entries to stand
Following further recent heavy rain, the turf course at Lingfield Park is currently waterlogged. With further heavy thundery rain forecast, the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) has abandoned racing on the Turf course and has sanctioned the transfer of the affected races to the All Weather.
As there is not sufficient time to re-open the races the original entries will stand and declarations to run must be made by 10am on Thursday, June 23rd. Where applicable, revised ratings, weights and elimination sequences will be issued to reflect any differential between Turf and All Weather ratings.
Revised race conditions are available on the BHA’s Racing Admin website, www.racingadmin.co.uk, under “Fixtures and Races”.
Ed Arkell, Clerk of the Course at Lingfield Park, said:
“After 23mm rain last night, following another week of unsettled weather, the turf is saturated with standing water in places and currently unraceable. We cannot reasonably expect any significant improvement ahead of Saturday evening’s fixture. Therefore, the four races scheduled to be run on the turf will now take place on the All Weather track.
“While we’re pleased the fixture can still go ahead we are continuing to further investigate the situation regarding the turf with our agronomists, Professional Sports Turf Design, who are best placed to recommend any remedial work that may need to take place.”
