The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) has today announced that following Wolverhampton receiving 295 entries for its fixture on Tuesday 10 July, three races from that fixture will be moved to an additional fixture at the track on the afternoon of Monday 9 July.

This is to address the demand for races at Wolverhampton by allowing those three races, as well as the four races remaining on Tuesday 10 July, to divide according to demand to make up two full fixtures of between six and eight races each.

Entries for all races which closed yesterday will remain unaffected. The races which remain on Tuesday 10 July will declare as usual at 10am on Sunday 8 July, with the races moved to Monday 9 July declaring on Saturday 7 July at 10am.

The races which have moved to Monday 9 July are as follows:

All races will divide at least once.  If any of the races attracts 27 or more declarations, it will divide to three divisions to a maximum of 8 races.  The order of preference for third divisions is 64525, 64521, 64526. Race times will be available in due course, with the race order decided at the declaration stage. 

The races which remain on Tuesday 10 July are as follows:

Both 64523 and 64522 will divide at least once.  At that stage, if 64527 has received 18 or more declarations, then it will divide.  After that, if either 64523 or 64522 attracts 27 or more declarations, then they will divide to three divisions to a maximum of eight races.  If an order of preference is required for the third division, then they should be in the following order: 64522, 64523.Race times will be available in due course, with the race order decided at the declaration stage.

“We have decided to take this unusual step in order to address the particular demand for racing at Wolverhampton following yesterday’s entries for their fixture on 10 July.

“The unusually high number can be attributed to the continued dry spell which has led to many turf fixtures taking place under faster conditions.

“The decision to bring forward three races was not one we took lightly as it is understood that it has potential to cause logistical problems for connections of some horses but we felt that the overall outcome was the right one as no other feasible alternative existed to avoid a high number of eliminations.

“We’re grateful to the Horserace Betting Levy Board as well as Wolverhampton themselves and all involved for their efforts in facilitating this move at short notice.”
