The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) has today announced that due to the continuing spell of dry weather, Bath’s 22 August fixture has been transferred to Brighton.

Entry and declaration stages for the six-race afternoon fixture will remain unchanged with entries closing  on Thursday 16 August at 12 noon and declarations at the 48 hour stage.

Race programme and further fixture information is available via the racing admin site www2.racingadmin.co.uk.

The 1m6f handicap that was the qualifier for the Bath Stayers Series will  now be run over 2m2f at Chepstow on 23 August, rather than at Brighton fixture due to the lack of an appropriate start at Brighton.

Richard Russell, Race Planning Executive at the BHA, said:

“The lack of any appreciable rain fall in the area has continued to take its toll, with the result that Bath will not be able to hold its 22 August fixture.

“We have made this decision to transfer it to Brighton in advance to allow those affected to plan as best as possible.”

Jon Pullin, Racing Director at Arena Racing Company, said:

“Whilst there is not an appropriate start at Brighton for the scheduled Bath Stayers Series’ race on 22 August, we are happy to have been able to amend the conditions of the 2m 2f race at Chepstow on 23 August to ensure that this opportunity to qualify for the Final is not lost.”
