The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) has today announced that Chelmsford City Racecourse will host a new fixture on 1 April which will replace the one due to take place at Ayr.
Graeme Anderson, Clerk of the Course at Ayr Racecourse, said:
“Following the end of the Flat season at Ayr last October we invested in some new drainage work in the home straight, following which the ground was reinstated and reseeded.
“Unfortunately there has been insufficient growth for the ground to be ready for our scheduled Flat meeting on April 1.
“We are unable to stage a Flat meeting on the hurdles track due to the close proximity of the Coral Scottish Grand National Festival.”
The afternoon fixture at Chelmsford City will be a seven-race card, with entry and declaration deadlines remaining as normal.
Race programme details and further fixture information will be available via the Racing Admin website www2.racingadmin.co.uk in due course.
