On behalf of The British Grooms Association (BGA)
Discover a whole new world of opportunities with Change to Racing during Racing Staff Week.
The British Grooms Association (BGA), working in collaboration Careersinracing, is delighted to announce the launch of Change to Racing, a new section of their website, designed to give existing grooms from other sectors of the equestrian industry the complete overview of the opportunities in the Racing and Thoroughbred Breeding Industry.
The informative zone provides an insight into how racing differs from the other equestrian disciplines – but also the similarities, showcasing the career choices available, how to find a job and also a fun quiz to see if working in the sector is for you.
Lucy Katan, Executive Director of the British Grooms Association said:
“We recognise that staff retention can be a challenge within certain sectors of the industry. Many grooms are not aware of the good employment and career opportunities that the Racing and Thoroughbred Breeding Industry can offer. We have launched Change to Racing to inform our skilled workforce of other available career paths to keep them doing a job around horses that they love.”
Zoe Elliott, Head of Careers Marketing and Recruitment at the British Horseracing Authority said:
“Racing Yards and Studs would value the experience of grooms from other disciplines and we would really encourage them to look at the job opportunities on our job board but also the amazing training and support we have available in horseracing to support people in the development of their skills and careers. Change to Racing on the BGA website will give BGA members a great insight which will hopefully inspire them to explore careersinracing.com for jobs and training opportunities.”

Note to editors:
- Racing Staff Week runs from Saturday 29th June to Saturday 6th July 2019 and aims to bring the racing industry together to inform and engage horseracing followers and supporters about the passion, skill and dedication required to work in racing and also to increase awareness about the support and services that Racing Welfare provides to all of racing’s workforce.
- Careers in Racing is the central careers brand on behalf of the whole Racing Industry run by the British Horseracing Authority. The team implements recruitment initiatives and marketing campaigns to promote the variety of careers in racing and pathways into training to a range of audiences from school age to those looking to develop or change careers.
Racing Groom, which also features as a resource on the pages, is a website designed by the National Trainers Federation to help in the recruitment and retention of Racing Grooms.
