Trainers` Explanations
Published: 17 January 1997
Official explanations provided by trainers for the poor performance of their horses will now be summarised in racecards on the next occasion they run.
The Jockey Club Instructions H14 and H15 requiring trainers to provide these explanations were first introduced in October 1994 and have worked well. Last year 959 explanations were either received by the Stewards on the racecourse or were sent to the Jockey Club at Portman Square.
These reports are published in the racing press, but as not all racegoers will see them or remember them, this new arrangement will provide important information for punters.
