The joint-highest rated horse in the world in 2013 along with Black Caviar (AUS), Treve had been beaten in her three races since her 2013 Arc triumph, but returned to winning ways in emphatic style, quickening clear in the straight to defeat FLINTSHIRE (GB) [124] by two lengths, with King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes (sponsored by QIPCO) (G1) winner TAGHROODA (GB) [124] in third place, and Ladbrokes St Leger (G1) victor KINGSTON HILL (GB) [121] in fourth.
THE GREY GATSBY (IRE) [126] put up the top-rated performance by a three-year-old in the past month when taking the QIPCO Irish Champion Stakes (G1) at Leopardstown. Already the three-length winner of the Prix du Jockey Club (G1), The Grey Gatsby gained his revenge on AUSTRALIA (GB) [126] from their encounter in the Juddmonte International Stakes (G1) at York in August, when Australia came out on top by two lengths.
CHARM SPIRIT (IRE) [122] gained his fourth success in five starts this year when holding off TORONADO (IRE) [121] and NIGHT OF THUNDER (IRE) [121] in the Qatar Prix du Moulin de Longchamp (G1). In so doing, he registered his second consecutive victory at the top level, having captured the Prix Jean Prat (G1) on his previous start.
OLYMPIC GLORY (IRE) [122] also captured his second victory of the season when running out the impressive two length winner of the Qatar Prix de la Forêt (G1) at Longchamp, having already won the GLT Lockinge Stakes (G1) at Newbury in May.
In North America, SHARED BELIEF (USA) [122] made it seven wins from seven starts with a hard-fought neck victory in the Awesome Again Stakes (G1) at Santa Anita, despite having to travel wide for much for the race.
At Keenelend, WISE DAN (USA) [122] won his 14th race in his last 15 starts when coming from the rear of the field to gain a length success in the Shadwell Turf Mile (G1). The seven-year-old’s only defeat in that sequence came in the corresponding race last year, which was switched to the Polytrack after heavy rain, and he has now won his last 14 races on turf.
William Hill Haskell Invitational Stakes (G1) winner BAYERN (USA) [121] bounced back from a disappointing effort in the Travers Stakes (G1) to land the Pennsylvania Derby (G2) at Parx Racing by a commanding 5.75 lengths.
