The British horseracing industry stands united in its bid to improve the culture of respect within the sport.
The commitment from major bodies of British racing reflects everyone’s determination to raise the standards of behaviour and conduct and to effect meaningful change for the future of the sport.
Together the horseracing industry aims to provide a respectful, supportive, and safe working environment where everyone is empowered to achieve their full potential. The industry aims to provide a friendly, fun, and respectful environment for all who are in any way engaged with the sport.
Respect in Racing working group:
To drive this ambition forward a cross-industry working party was established in December 2021 to agree on an action plan to improve the culture of respect in British Racing.
The group advises the BHA on various issues, including how best to communicate the BHA’s new Code of Conduct and revised safeguarding policies and education around the Code of Conduct, with the goal of promoting and embedding a respectful, supportive and safe working environment in racing and a friendly, fun and respectful environment for all who are in any way engaged with the sport.
Everyone involved with British racing is responsible for reaching and maintaining the highest standards of behaviour. To communicate our expected behaviours, the group has commissioned a toolkit of communications materials.
Racing 2 Learn training module:
An online training module has been made available on racing2learn.com and early participation is encouraged.
The course highlights the six elements of the code and the sanctions that could apply.
