Results of enquiries (N Tinkler, W Haggas, Khazium) heard by the Disciplinary Panel on Thursday 4 June
Nigel Tinkler
The Disciplinary Panel of the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) held an enquiry on Thursday 4 June 2015 to consider whether or not Nigel Tinkler, a licensed trainer, had committed a breach of Rule (C)17 of the Rules of Racing, in respect of his failure to notify the Racing Calendar Office, by noon five days before running, that NORMANDY BARRIERE (IRE) had been gelded. The Panel noted that the trainer’s failure to comply with Rule (C)17 was brought to the BHA’s attention prior to the gelding running in the Conundrum HR Consulting Stakes race at York on 13 May 2015, having been listed as a colt, but run as a gelding at Pontefract on 29 April 2015 and Redcar on 6 April 2015.
Having considered the evidence, the Panel accepted an admission from Tinkler that he was in breach of Rule (C)17 and fined him £100.
William Haggas
The Disciplinary Panel of the BHA held an enquiry on Thursday 4 June 2015 to consider whether or not William Haggas, a licensed trainer, had committed a breach of Rule (C)17 of the Rules of Racing, in respect of his failure to notify the Racing Calendar Office, by noon five days before running, that FOREIGN DIPLOMAT had been gelded. The Panel noted that the trainer’s failure to comply with Rule (C)17 was brought to the BHA’s attention prior to the gelding running in the Conundrum HR Consulting Stakes race at York on 13 May 2015, having been listed as a colt, but run as a gelding at Thirsk on 2 May 2015.
Having considered the evidence, the Panel accepted an admission from Haggas that he was in breach of Rule (C)17 and fined him £100.
Khazium
The Disciplinary Panel of the BHA held an enquiry on Thursday 4 June 2015 into a report that KHAZIUM (IRE), trained by Miss Claire Dyson, was reluctant to line up and was withdrawn at the start in the Sentinel – LocalAndProud Handicap Steeple Chase at Uttoxeter on 2 May 2015. The matter was referred to the BHA by the Uttoxeter Stewards following their enquiry of the same day, because the gelding had been reluctant to go to post and to line up at Towcester on 29 January 2015, reluctant to go to post at Leicester on 24 February 2015 and refused to race at Taunton on 9 April 2015.
Having considered the evidence, including a written statement from Miss Dyson, the Panel decided not to exercise its powers under Rule (F)66 of the Rules of Racing and place a restriction on the gelding being entered and run. However, the Panel directed that if KHAZIUM (IRE) is unruly on the racecourse again the matter would be referred back to the BHA.
