The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) has today announced that an additional Flat fixture will take place at Chelmsford City racecourse on Friday 8 November in order to satisfy some of the existing demand amongst trainers for extra opportunities, particularly two-year-old Novice races.
Entries for the fixture, which will initially be a six-race card with a provisional first race time of around 5:25pm, will close tomorrow, Wednesday 6 November at 12 noon. Declarations will close at 10am on Thursday 7 November. A maximum of two races will be permitted to divide, making a potential eight-race card.
As the declarations for this fixture will be 24-hours, the jockey declaration deadline for the fixture at Newcastle on the same day will be pushed back to 1pm on Thursday, 7 November.
Race conditions and further fixture information will be available via the BHA Racing Admin site www2.racingadmin.co.uk shortly. In order to meet the demand for two-year-old novice races, three of the races on this card will be for novices.
Mike Waring, Senior Race Planning Executive for the BHA, said:
“From speaking to trainers and owners we are aware that there is a real demand for further Flat races at present, in particular novice races for two-year-olds. We have programmed this extra fixture with this in mind, and our thanks go to Chelmsford City for hosting the event.”
Chelmsford City Racecourse Manager Fraser Garrity said:
“We’re pleased to be able to help out. Hopefully the extra races will assist owners and trainers in finding the opportunities they need at present.”
