- Hurdle races abandoned as track is waterlogged with no prospect of recovery due to more rain forecast
- Three new Steeple Chases added to form six race card
After further rainfall this week, the Hurdle course at Leicester is waterlogged. With no chance of recovering before racing, the Leicester Executive in conjunction with the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) Inspectorate, has been forced to abandon the Hurdle races scheduled for Monday, 28 December.
The BHA has therefore programmed three additional Steeple Chases in an attempt to safeguard this fixture. One of the additional races will be broadcast by ITV Racing along with one of the pre-planned races.
Leicester’s going on the Chase course is currently described as Soft; Heavy in places.
The new races, will close at noon on Tuesday, 22 December. Declarations are to be made in line with the existing races by 10am on Saturday, 26 December.
Race conditions, further race times and other fixture information will be available via the BHA Racing Admin site www2.racingadmin.co.uk shortly.
