- Waterlogging around 8f and 10f Starts
- Two races abandoned
- Additional 5f and 6f handicaps added
Recent heavy rain has left the round course at Ayr waterlogged around the 8f and 10f starts. Therefore, the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) has abandoned two races at Ayr’s next fixture, Thursday, 6 October and programmed two extra races as replacements.
As a consequence, races 47635 and 47632 have been abandoned and a Class 6 5f handicap and a Class 4 6f handicap have been added to the card.
The new races will close at noon on Saturday, 1 October, with declarations following the normal schedule, i.e. 10am on Tuesday, 4 October.
Emma Marley, Clerk of the Course at Ayr said:
“Following prolonged wet weather we have experienced severe waterlogging issues at 8f and 10f. These areas are earmarked for drainage after the end of the Flat season. Therefore, in order to increase chances of racing safely on Thursday 6 October, we can only stage races over 7f and under.”
