The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) can confirm the rescheduling of the Unibet Veterans’ Handicap Chase to Warwick on Saturday 11 January.
The race, which was originally scheduled at Sandown Park on Saturday 4 January, will be run for £75,000.
All existing entries will be cancelled and new entries for qualified horses are to be made by noon on Wednesday 8 January, prior to declarations with the remainder of the card on Thursday 9 January. The weights of the race will be republished following the new entries.
The BHA is grateful to the Jockey Club for agreeing to host the rescheduled race, to the Horserace Betting Levy Board for their prize money contribution and to Unibet for their sponsorship of the race, as well as their continued support of Veterans’ races.
Amy Starkey, Managing Director of the Jockey Club, said: “We were eager to find an appropriate alternative for the Unibet Veterans’ Chase which is suitable for connections and we’re grateful to everyone involved in helping to reschedule at the earliest possible opportunity.
“While the weather forecast for Warwick over the next few days remains challenging, we wanted to give the race every chance of taking place and hope that conditions allow it to go ahead.”
