HONORARY MEMBER
The following was elected as an Honorary Member of the Jockey Club:
Mr George Strawbridge
Mr Strawbridge has been a registered owner in Britain since 1973. He is a successful owner / breeder who has enjoyed major victories in both Europe and the United States. Notable British trained horses include Selkirk, Silver Fling, Hidden Meadow and Presenting.

The following were elected as Members of the Jockey Club:
Lord Howland
Lord Howland is the Marketing Director of Tattersalls, Europe’s leading bloodstock auctioneers. He has also been a Director of Newmarket Racecourse since 1996, and owns eight horses in partnership which are trained by Neil Graham, Peter Chapple-Hyam, Ed Dunlop, Charlie Egerton, Derrick Morris and Geoff Wragg. As a partner in Bloomsbury Stud, he also owns twenty mares in partnerships.
Mr Alastair Macdonald-Buchanan
Alastair MacDonald-Buchanan is a partner in Lavington Stud in Sussex which includes the joint ownership of fifteen mares. He also has shares in several fillies and was a successful point to point rider and amateur under Rules. He was elected to the TBA in October 1997, and has acted as a Racecourse Steward since 1989. He has stewarded (Flat and National Hunt) at Ascot, Goodwood, Leicester and Sandown and is an approved panel Chairman. A partner in a waste-management business and in a farming business in Northamptonshire, he is also a Governor of St Andrews Hospital in Northampton
Sir Michael Oswald KCVO
Sir Michael Oswald has been Racing Manager to HM Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother since 1970.
Having been Manager and then Director of the Royal Studs from 1970-98, Sir Michael was an ex-officio
Member of the Jockey Club, a position he relinquished on his retirement this year.
Stephen Webb
Stephen Webb is a Director of Hereford Racecourse. He has acted as a racecourse steward since 1985,
stewarding at Cheltenham, Hereford and Worcester and is an approved Panel Chairman. He has ridden
in Hunter Chases, as well as at point to points, where he also stewards. He owns two horses in
partnerships, which are in training with Robert Cowell.
Mrs Fiona Whitaker
Mrs Fiona Whitaker has bred the winners of 100 races, including Cape Felix (16 races), Primrose Wood
(14 races), Candlebright (10 races), Pyjamas (9 races) and McGregor The Third (8 races). She has been
a registered owner since 1971 and has owned many horses, the majority of which were trained by
Gordon Richards, including Lucius, who won the 1978 Grand National as well as 15 other races. Mrs
Whitaker has been a racecourse Steward since 1983, and acts on the panels at Perth and Mussleburgh.
She is an approved Panel Chairman.
