The British Horseracing Authority has today announced two provisional new races at Exeter’s fixture on Tuesday 9 April. This is because, in light of the current going and weather forecast, the ground may not be suitable for the three steeple chases currently programmed.
Exeter’s ground is currently Good to Firm, Good in places with limited chance of showers in the forecast between now and Tuesday. As such a National Hunt Flat race and a hurdle race have been provisionally programmed. Entries for these two contests as well as the seven existing races will close tomorrow at 12 noon, Wednesday 3 April.
A decision will then be taken on Sunday morning to see if the original seven-race card can go ahead, or whether the three existing chases are replaced by the two new contests to make a six-race card. This would then mean the team there will be able to focus the watering on one course only rather than have to water two courses in order to provide safe jumping ground.
Declarations will be made as usual by 10am on Monday 8 April.Full race details and conditions for all existing and provisional races, as well as further fixture information, will be available via the BHA Racing Admin site www2.racingadmin.co.uk shortly.
