New Jockey Club Public Relations Officer

Following the departure of David Pipe, John Maxse has been appointed Public Relations Officer for the Jockey Club. The post takes effect from Monday 20th October.
John Maxse, aged 29, joined the Jockey Club’s Public Relations Department in 1993. Prior to that he had gained several years of experience working within a number of different areas of the racing industry, including editing the Official Form Book for Raceform, acting as Assistant Trainer in a National Hunt yard and broadcasting and writing for Ladbrokes. As a freelance journalist he has had articles published on a variety of sporting activities and on entertainment.
John has ridden in Point to Points and Under Rules since 1985, riding more than 20 winners ‘between the flags’.

2. Julia Cook, formerly Secretary to the Director of Public Affairs, has been promoted to Assistant Public Relations Officer.
