Owing to a systems and administrative error, four of the runners in the 4:30pm “Follow @attheraces On Twitter Handicap” (Class 6) (4yo+ 0-65) at Brighton racecourse are ineligible to race and have been made non-runners.
The reason for this is that the race is a confined handicap, restricted to horses four years old and upwards, Rated 46-65, which have not won more than two races. However, at the entries and declarations stage the conditions of the race were not applied correctly by the administrative system, and horses were permitted to enter and declare who were not eligible, having previously won more than two races.
The four affected horses are:
• Sprit Warning
• Kondratiev Wave
• Vitesse Du Son
• Rivas Rob Roy
In fairness to the horses that are correctly entered, it is not possible to adjust the conditions of the race at this stage, nor is it possible to allow the ineligible horses to compete.
The BHA and Weatherbys apologise to the connections of the affected horses, and steps will be taken to consider what compensation can be offered as regards entry fees and transport costs.
The BHA will also work with Weatherbys to understand what caused this issue and what steps can be taken to ensure that it does not occur again.
