- Two additional Chases added provisionally to create a six-race card that also includes the rescheduled Cotswold Chase if Hurdle races are abandoned
- Sandown Park to hold an inspection on Thursday morning to make decision
The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) has today confirmed the creation of a provisional six-race, all-Chase card for Sandown’s meeting on Saturday 6 February, should the scheduled Hurdle races face abandonment.
Entries for the two new races will be taken at noon tomorrow, Wednesday 3 February, prior to declarations at the usual 48-hour stage.
An inspection will be held at Sandown Park at 8am on Thursday 4 February to determine whether racing can take place on the Hurdles course.
In the event the Hurdle races are abandoned, the card will revert to the six-race, all-Chase card, featuring the two new races and the rescheduled Cotswold Chase, which was moved to Sandown Park following the abandonment of Cheltenham’s meeting on Saturday 30 January.
If it is decided the meeting can proceed as scheduled with a mixture of Chases and Hurdle races, the additional two provisional Chases will instead be abandoned.
