Racing will not take place on Tuesday 9th April, the day of the funeral of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother.

British Horseracing Board Chairman Peter Savill said today: “Everybody involved in our sport is immensely proud of the very special relationship which the Queen Mother had with Racing. The British Horseracing Board considers it wholly appropriate to make a speedy decision to cancel fixtures on the day of her funeral. All in Racing will have the opportunity to pay their respects to one of our sport’s most important and best-loved figures.”

The three meetings due to have been staged that day were a National Hunt fixture at Exeter and Flat fixtures at Pontefract and Southwell.
