Racing’s national day of volunteering in support of local communities, the Racing Together Community Day, returns on Thursday 25 May 2023, when all those involved in the sport are invited to give their time for good causes.
John Blake, CEO of Racing Together, said: “We’re pleased to announce this year’s date for the popular Racing Together Community Day and hope to build on last year’s efforts, which engaged 65 racing organisations and gave us wonderful stories of racing teams helping out at food banks, hospices, local community areas and much more.”
A short video on last year’s Racing Together Community Day can be watched here.
The Coronation of King Charles III takes place two weeks prior on Monday 8 May and as part of ‘The Big Help Out’ initiative people are being invited to take part in volunteering projects within their local community. Racing’s volunteering efforts throughout May will form part of The Big Help Out initiative and Racing Together’s Community Day.
Any type of racing organisation is encouraged to get in touch with Racing Together to sign up and start planning their volunteering activity with colleagues. Please contact: [email protected] or visit the website for more details and to get involved. We understand the nature of the racing calendar makes participation more challenging for some, so anyone who can’t volunteer on 25 May is encouraged to take part when they can and let us know all about their activities so we can still include it within the initiative. Any manner of volunteering or donating is encouraged and the team can help you fit it around busy schedules.
Racing Together will be holding a webinar at the end of April which will focus on Community Day. The panel will be a mixture of those who have both taken part in and benefitted from the day in previous years and they will discuss how to get involved within your limitations, as well as the wider benefits to the community and why the day is so important. More information will be available here.

Notes to editors:
1. Racing Together is British racing’s community engagement activity and is an open partnership of charities and organisations that work across the sport to benefit others. The initiative is led by the education charity Racing to School and guided by a subcommittee.
Racing Together coordinates, supports, represents and measures British racing’s community engagement and CSR activity. Its vision is for British racing to be known as a ‘force for good’ by helping the communities in which the sport operates. It achieves this by providing practical support and resources; facilitating ideas, collaboration and progress; working on specific nationwide initiatives; hosting inspiring seminars and coordinating Racing Together Community Day, while promoting and sharing best examples of community engagement on an ongoing basis. Racing Together is grateful to the HBLB for its annual funding award.
