Following the abandonment of racing at Ascot on Saturday 3 October the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), in conjunction with York, Goodwood and Nottingham racecourses, are pleased to confirm the rescheduling of four races, as follows.
Race | Class/Distance | Racecourse | Date | Prize Money |
Cumberland Lodge Stakes | Group 3 1m 4f | York | 9 October | £45,000 |
Bengough Stakes | Group 3 6f | York | 10 October | £45,000 |
October Stakes | Listed (Fillies) 7f | Goodwood | 11 October | £37,750 (including £10,000 provided by EBF) |
Rous Stakes | Listed 5f | Nottingham | 14 October | £27,750 |
Although it is not usual procedure to reschedule Group 3 and Listed races, it was felt that with the abandonment coming late in an already disrupted season it was in the best interests of all concerned to reschedule these opportunities.
The BHA is extremely grateful to the Horserace Betting Levy Board (HBLB) for providing the prize money for all races, alongside the European Breeders Fund (EBF) for the £10,000 added to the October Stakes.
Entries for the Cumberland Lodge, Bengough and October Stakes close tomorrow Tuesday 6 October and declare at the 48 hour stage as normal. Entries for the Rous close at the six-day stage on 8 October as usual.
