TATTERSALLS COMMITTEE – CHAIRMANS REPORT 2004
During 2004, the Committee met on Monday, 17th May and Tuesday, 12th October.
At these meetings 23 claims came before the Committee, this compares with 65 cases in 2003 and 46 cases in 2002.
In 2004, there were 15 undisputed claims where the Committee decided that the Bookmakers concerned were entitled to the amounts claimed and orders were made accordingly.
There were 8 disputed claims, of which 7 were ‘On Course’ claims; of these 7 disputed ‘On Course’ claims the Committee decided in 5 cases that the Punter was not entitled to the amounts claimed. In 2 cases both parties agreed to a division of the disputed amount.
There was 1 disputed ‘Off Course’ claim, where the Committee decided that the Punter was entitled to the amount and an order of payment was made accordingly.
During the year there were 13 persons reported to The Jockey Club as ‘Defaulters’ and 5 persons who had their names withdrawn from the ‘Defaulters’ list.
