The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) has today announced that the fixture due to be staged at Wolverhampton today on Tuesday, 12 December 2017, has been abandoned and re-scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday 13 December.
Today’s fixture has been abandoned as the Managing Executive at Wolverhampton Racecourse are not comfortable that conditions are currently safe enough for horses, participants and spectators for the fixture to take place.
The horses that have declared for the fixture yesterday will remain and races will not be re-opened, although jockey bookings for Lingfield, Kempton and the additional fixture at Wolverhampton will be re-opened until 1pm to allow for adjustments.
The first race at Wolverhampton tomorrow will be at 1.45pm, and any trainer who has declared for racing today who has concerns about racing tomorrow should contact Weatherbys directly. Full fixture information is available via the racing admin site www2.racingadmin.co.uk.
Jon Pullin, Racing Director at Arena Racing Company, said:
“The Grounds team at Wolverhampton have worked incredibly hard in making sure that the track is fit for racing today, but unfortunately snow and ice in other areas of the racecourse would have caused undue health and safety risks.
“In rescheduling for tomorrow, there will now be ample time to make sure those areas of the racecourse estate are safe for all participants and customers. Many thanks to the BHA for their swift work in rescheduling this fixture and the HBLB for their continued financial support.”
