The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) has today announced that Wolverhampton Racecourse will stage an additional fixture on Tuesday 12 December 2017.
This is due to an unusually high number of eliminations in recent races at the course and trainer feedback requesting an increased number of opportunities.
The races, which can be seen in full below, have less frequently seen rating bands that are intended to specifically cater for the type of horse that has been eliminated recently.
Full details and race conditions can also be found on the BHA Racing Admin site, www2.racingadmin.co.uk.
The races will close on Thursday 7 December at 12 noon, with declarations at the usual 48 hour stage on Sunday 10 December.
Paul Johnson, Head of Racing at the BHA, said:
“Whilst it is unusual for us to add in a fixture specifically to deal with eliminations, the fact that they were so prevalent in one region and for one section of the horse population meant that we felt it could be achieved without only limited impact on field sizes at other fixtures.
“The fact that this year we have seen the highest number of eliminations since 2012 offers a degree of encouragement in itself that, at least on the flat, horse population continues to show some signs of recovery from the lows of recent years.”
