Watch: Equine welfare at the Grand National Festival

Horse safety and welfare is paramount to British racing.
Ahead of the Grand National Festival, we have produced a short film to highlight the measures in place to ensure that each runner lines up in the best possible condition and receives the highest standard of care and support.
Here Sally Taylor, BHA Head of Equine Regulation, Safety & Welfare, and Amy Hawthorn, BHA Veterinary Officer, walk you through the steps taken for each horse running at Aintree Racecourse, including:
– Pre-race examinations.
– Submission and analysis of medication records.
– Monitoring of horses during and after the race.
